Normally during the course of my studies I was not attacked by vampires. Yet on one evening, When all of the cattle had been moved to the far end of the ranch for a health inspection, I became the "selected" host. Quite often when I was sitting near my capture nets, I would hear and see vampire-sized bats circling around me. The bats have been observed doing the same above and around cattle herds, and this may be part of the selection process. Often predators will test possible pray by chasing it or nudging it for juices.
